Cask sample. Light to mid cherry. Aromatic sweetness of fruit and spice with perhaps a hint of stemmy herbal freshness. Really fragrant. Juicy, very fine tannins, lovely mouth-watering zest and length. (JH)

The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes was matured in 33% new oak with 25% whole bunch fruit. It has an upfront, quite bold bouquet with plenty of black fruit - dark cherries, bilberry and hints of wilted violet mixed with incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. I appreciate the focus here and the sappiness that comes through on the finish when the risk was pushing this too far. This comes recommended.

(30% vendange entier ; from 60-year-old vines): Medium red. Higher-toned strawberry and game aromas. Tactile and alive in the mouth, with lovely lift to the sweet flavors of raspberry, strawberry and brown spices. This seriously structured wine finishes fresh and persistent, with lingering brown spices, harmonious tannins and a suggestion of saline minerality
