Score 92/100 · Drink 2007-2014, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2005

Vaunting terrific spicy red cherry aromas, the medium to full-bodied 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers is a powerful, boisterously fruity wine. Cherries, raspberries, and blueberries are found in its engaging personality. Projected maturity: 2007-2014. Importer: David Hinkle / Peter Vezan, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. (from north-facing vines planted on dense, clay-rich soil) Bright red-ruby. Aromas of bitter cherry, licorice, meat and mint. Quite unevolved in the mouth, with striking acidity and minerality for the year. Not particularly sweet; in fact, quite classic in style for 2003. Broad, palate-coating finish is subtle and long, throwing off notes of violet and spice. This finished its malo late.
