The 2021 Crozes-Ermitage Le Grand Courtil is up with the finest Crozes in the vintage. Coming from very old vines (1971 plantings) and aged in 15% new oak, it has a medium-bodied, peppery, perfumed profile as well as attractive red plum and blackberry fruits, supple, soft tannins, and just an already delicious, up-front, charming style best drunk over the coming 7-8 years.

Score 84/100 · Drink 2024-2027, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, Mar 2024

Vinified from certified biodynamic grapes, the 2021 Crozes-Ermitage Le Grand Courtil checks in at 13% alcohol. Fairly low-intensity red fruits emerge from the glass, complemented by clove traces. Overly chalky tannins take away some of the fun, and although the finale offers some juiciness, the 2021 ends rather abruptly.
