Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2021, Robert Parker, Aug 2014

Juicy tobacco leaf, cassis and black currant characteristics are present in this medium-bodied, dark plum/ruby-colored 2003. There is also a smoked earth/Graves-like character in addition to a jammy cherriness and a medium-bodied, spicy, heady finish. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Lots of development at the rim. Very inexpressive on the nose. Marked acidity. Not much holding this together in the middle. The acidity is the dominant feature. (Average group score: 14.1) (JR)

Fresh red fruit, not leafy, some pencil lead. Fresh and quite delicate but long and with a touch of grip on the finish. (JH)

Something rather malic on the nose and jagged on the palate. Very drying tannins on the finish. (JR)
