Dark, bright red. A bit of reduction to the aromas of black cherry and herbs. Offers a bit more texture than the premier crus but difficult to taste today owing to its brisk acidity and firm spine of slightly tough tannins. The dominant flavor today is of tart cherry stomp, with accents of coffee and herbs. Finishes with a subtle saline quality but little in the way of sweetness. Just three and a half barrels made, vs. a normal five, as with the Lavaux Saint-Jacques.
