Glowing ruby. Rich and gorgeous on the nose. It must have been tempting to include this with the great vintages served during lunch. A little dry on the finish, but wonderful fresh fruit on the palate. Explodes in the mouth. (JR)

Tasted 6 Times With Consistent Notes I have been told my a number of people who have followed the 1953 vintage from its youth that it drank exceptionally well in the late fifties. Apparently, it has lost none of its hedonistic, supple, explosive fruit. It will not get any better, so consumption is recommended between 1994-1997. It offers a delicious smoky, berry fragrance, a silky, creamy texture, and a long, heady finish. The low acidity provides vibrance, and the tannins have melted away. Should you be fortunate enough to have the beauty cellared, drink it over the next several years.
