95% Syrah, 5% Viognier, Côte Blonde, 40 hl/ha yield, no de-stemming, three-week cuvaison in stainless steel with immersed cap, two-year maturation in oak barriques (maximum 5% new), bottled without fining or filtration . Mid ruby. Fragrant and old-fashioned on the nose. Diffuse rather than concentrated but rather appealingly dreamy. Fresh, dry expression of traditional Côte-Rôtie. No heavyweight – indeed ‘only’ 12.5%. Good for those who seek refreshment. Dry and pure. (JR)

The lightest effort is usually the Cuvee du Plessy. The Cote Rotie Cuvee du Plessy exhibits mushroomy, weedy, herbaceous characteristics intermixed with leathery, animal-like notes. Washed out cherries and raspberries also poke their way through in this medium-bodied effort. This Cote Rotie is clearly meant for consumers who enjoy the ancient, traditional style of winemaking.
