Coming from a single lieu-dit of steep, west-facing volcanic soils, the 2023 Côte Rôtie Coeur De Combard sports a deep ruby hue as well as a truly brilliant nose of ripe red and black fruits, framboise, rose petal, crushed stone, and peppery notes. It's medium-bodied on the palate and has a supple, seamless, incredibly layered mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and outstanding length. This beautiful, elegant, seamless Côte Rotie will evolve nicely over the coming two decades. I continue to love the wines from the talented Julien Barge, and this is a gem of a wine worth seeking out. Drink 2028-2045.

Cask sample. Sapid and juicy, with plenty of energy. Pure fruit expression. Shows both structure and length. Promising.  (JL)
