The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is a beauty, soaring from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petals, orange rind and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, its exquisitely refined tannins are cloaked in an ample core of sapid, concentrated fruit. This is well worth seeking out.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru includes no whole-bunch fruit this year and is matured in 100% new oak. It seems to handle the new wood well, offering scents of black cherries, boysenberry and a touch of pain d’épices . The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit and a fine bead of acidity. Quite vibrant, especially toward the finish. The long aftertaste is very satisfying. Superb. Four barrels produced.
