Score 95/100 · Drink 2020-2045, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The Domaine Duroché's tiny parcel of Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru produced a mere 85 liters of wine in 2015, but its quality is some consolation for the tiny quantity. To fill its tiny tank, this 2015 Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru is always fermented without any destemming, and it is correspondingly more marked by whole cluster fermentation than the other grands crus (which saw around 30% whole cluster in 2015), offering up aromas of cinnamon, juniper, cherry, raspberry, orange rind and currant leaf. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, expansive and supple, with sappy acids and a long, saline finish. I suspect that this is deceptively transparent and will prove long lived, though acquiring any bottles to test that contention will be nearly impossible.

About the producer

Duroche - Producer
Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
