Good deep red. Black cherry, raspberry, bitter chocolate and a whiff of jasmine on the nose. Muscular and backward, with a somewhat medicinal quality to the dark cherry flavor. With extended aeration, this wine showed ripe red fruits and mocha along with a liqueur-like suggestion of maple syrup. A compellingly sweet wine but withdrawn today and structured for a slow evolution in bottle.

Bright ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate, complicated by a musky minerality. Dense, juicy and penetrating; a step up in texture and concentration from the premier crus, with a compelling sappy freshness and strong mineral drive. The very long, rising finish stains the palate with black fruit and licorice flavors.

Very intense nose, super fruity, so very different from the Roumier delicacy. Intense, hints of herbs and almost like a vermouth. Massive build and slightly drying finish. Smooth and exciting, but a bit drying on the end... Like a power-drink version of blackberry cordial. A Gary Vaynerchuk of a grand cru. (JR)
