Score 97/100 · James Suckling, Apr 2025

This wine is about power, depth and strength. Full-bodied with lots of blackberries, black cherries, subtle graphite, iodine, mulberries, dried herbs and crushed violets. Quite ripe but intriguingly floral as well. The impact on the palate is impressive, with lots of powerful but fine-grained tannins and a long finish. 96% cabernet sauvignon, 3% cabernet franc and 1% merlot. Alcohol is 14.7%, with a pH of 3.62. Drink from 2027.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor includes 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot from the Don Melchor Vineyard in Puente Alto. It delivers ripe blackberry and currant aromas along with hints of spice, tobacco and oak. The palate is intense and slightly austere compared to other years, with fine-grained tannins and a salty, energetic finish. The 2023 is balanced and fresh. This vintage stands out for its vibrancy and depth.
