100% Marsanne on granite soils. Fermented in big oak. Organic wine. Nutty, rich, oily aroma. Powerful, spicy but mouth-wateringly fresh 'thanks to the granite'. The freshness is a sour-quince like flavour after the riper stone fruit of the initial impact. Big but balanced. (JH)

The mid-level Saint-Joseph from this estate, the 2018 Saint Joseph Les Granilites has a ripe, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced style delivering lots of classic Northern Rhône minerality as well as notes of more red and blue fruits, violets, and pepper. It's nicely done, and I'd certainly happily drink a bottle any time over the coming 18-20 years.

A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe cherry and dark berries, cola, candied flowers and black pepper. Concentrated blackberry, cherry liqueur and spicecake flavors become livelier as the wine opens up. Smooth, rounded tannins add gentle grip to a long, dark-fruit-driven finish that leaves a sweet violet pastille note behind. Raised in a combination of concrete tanks and oak barrels.
