Score 90-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2006

Medium red. Deeply pitched, very sweet aromas of black cherry, minerals and caramel. Fat, ripe and open, but with strong minerality and firm acids giving the wine a penetrating character and leavening its impressive sweetness. Finishes long but a bit youthfully dry, with a suggestion of fresh herbs. Ultimately a bit cooler than the Clos de Beze.

Very sweet and spicy nose, though not desparately intense. Very correct and quite racy. Correct but not as massive as one might expect at this price. (JR)
