Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2022-2038, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Santenay Clos Rousseau 1er Cru includes 15-20% whole bunches and is matured mostly in François Frères barrels. Raised in 35% new oak, you might argue that it has the most "modern" nose from Moreau, but a more accurate word would be "polished". There is a touch of gloss to the bright red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent and rounded tannins, veins of blood orange enlivening the finish that feels tender but structured. Gentle grip on the finish. This is a wonderful follow-up to the excellent 2018.
