The 2005 Couhins-Lurton is a touch slender, but it has aged well. Red cherry, grilled herbs, dried flowers and licorice give this mid-weight Pessac-Léognan a good bit of aromatic complexity. I find the 2005 lacking a bit in weight, but it has held up nicely, all things considered. This mid-weight red has a ton to offer. Time in the glass brings out very pretty red toned fruit and floral accents.

Screwcap. Mid/pale gold. Loose green leaves on the nose. Some richness on the palate. Still very fresh though. Flattering with real zip and drive. I don’t really understand why this is so relatively cheap! (JR)
Another property belonging to André Lurton, this relatively obscure estate in Pessac-Léognan has produced a dense purple wine with pure black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, licorice, medium to full body, sweet tannin and loads of spice and earth. This is a beauty and possibly the best Couhins-Lurton red I have ever tasted. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. A sleeper of the vintage.
100% Sauvignon Blanc Teenage wet wool stage on the nose though very smart on the palate – real substance and lemony fruit. Long and rich. Well done! (JR)
