Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2029-2045, Neal Martin, Jan 2026

The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru, aged in 50% new oak, required a bit of exchange between glasses to prize open the aromatics: quite intense blackberry, blueberry and violet scents with just a hint of dark chocolate waiting in the wings. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and traces of blood orange (not unlike Christophe Perrot-Minot's 2024s) leading to a lightly spiced, quite strict finish that will need some bottle age.
