The 2005 Corvina La Poja, from a vineyard near Lake Garda, is a sumptuous, opulent wine endowed with generous super-ripe dark raspberries, licorice and French oak. Dense and full-bodied, this explosive wine reveals terrific length and fine overall balance. La Poja spent 28 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. Allegrini is one of Veneto’s reference-point producers. The estate is best known for their Amarone, which is one of the fresher versions being made today.
