Aromas of cherries, raspberries, orange zest, rose petals and spices introduce the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Corvées, a medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent wine that's lively and charming.

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Corvées comes from vines planted between 1967 and 2017. It has a high-toned bouquet with black cherries and raspberry fruit, just a touch of black truffle coming through with time. The medium-bodied palate has a slightly tart entry and fine acidity. It’s a little compact towards the finish, where I am seeking more depth and substance – wood tannins are somewhat drying here. It's not bad, but it will be better in the future when they dial down the new oak percentage.

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
