Pale, green-tinged yellow. High-pitched orange, melon and poached pear aromas show impressive energy and clarity. Smooth and silky on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering vivid honeydew and citrus fruit flavors given depth by a subtle anise quality. Finishes with refreshing mineral cut and thrust, leaving a sexy floral note behind.

The 2011 Condrieu Cote Chatillon offers floral, peach and slightly buttery fruit flavors, a whiff of spice, and is already reasonably mature in a medium to full-bodied style. Bonnefond’s 2010 Cote Roties have potential, but their recent bottlings have given them relatively closed personalities. I was unimpressed by both vintages of the Colline de Couzou. In both 2010 and 2011, except for a handful of producers (such as Delas, Guigal, Rostaing and Ogier), Cote Rotie is the weakest Rhone Valley appellation. Importer: Europvin; www.europvin.com
