Comfortable and easy and fruity. Old-slippers impression. (I may have reversed impressions of Lavaut and Estournelles because of the way these wines were presented!) (JR)

A background application of wood frames the earthy and mildly animale aromas of wild red berry and blue pinot fruit that is liberally laced with wet stone that also is reflected by the more concentrated and slightly riper middle weight flavors that possess both fine intensity and persistence. These two wines are qualitative equals but possess very different characters as the Champeaux is a wine of finesse whereas the Estournelles is more robust and forceful. A choice.
