The 2016 Chambertin Grand Cru has a luscious and generous bouquet with plenty of raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry scents, seamlessly integrated oak and entrancing mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, pliant and velvety smooth, fanning out with supreme confidence towards the pixelated finish. Brilliant. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Camille Giroud's 2016 Chambertin is a big wine. There may very well be more here than I am seeing at present. Today, the Chambertin is decidedly reticent and tightly wound, despite its considerable depth. Searing tannins attenuate the plum and black cherry fruit in a rich, powerful Chambertin that is likely to require a number of years to come into its own. - Antonio Galloni
