Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

Duroché’s village Gevrey comes from nine different parcels of old vines (all planted between 1934 and 1980), including the lieux-dits: Reniard, Pressonier, Le Fourneau, Les Murots, Aux Etelois, Aux Corvées, Les Champs-Perriers, Les Croisettes and En Champ. This may be a mere village wine, but it speaks volumes – dark and scented, it’s a serious step up from the Bourgogne Rouge. Black cherries mingle with delicate floral tones on the lifted nose, but the palate is driven by brighter berry-fruit. Long, pure and with such fine tannins, it’s gorgeous, with a mouth-watering, saline finish. A brilliant introduction to the Duroché style.

Notes of sweet cherries, dark berries and licorice preface the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine with a succulent core of fruit, delicate tannins and a saline finish.
