Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2022-2040, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru has a deep, broody bouquet of blackberry, briar, black tea and damp earthy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and a fine bead of acidity, and quite saline in the mouth. The open, slightly fleshy finish leaves orange peel lingering on the aftertaste. This is a fine Chambertin, although not necessarily Dujac’s best Grand Cru this year.

The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the most exciting wines in the Dujac cellar this year, offering up a classy bouquet of rose petal, orange rind and red berries framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny with a pure and lively core of fruit, superb depth and persistence and juicy balancing acids. It's a supple but intense rendition of this tiny two-barrel cuvée.
