A big step up, the 2020 Condrieu La Vieille Maison comes from four different terroirs and is brought up in 30% new French oak. It’s pure, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced, with textbook Condrieu notes of grilled peach, honeyed pineapple, and a kiss of spice. I love it and would gladly drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years.

A blend of several parcels, the 2020 Condrieu la Vieille Maison matured in 10% to 20% new oak pièces, giving it a slightly toasty veneer. It's on the lean side for Condrieu, dominated by tart citrus flavors that offer plenty of refreshment and, perhaps, a bit of longevity.

Blend of wine from five parcels aged for 11 months in barrel, 30% new. Seems to be both rich and tense at the same time but overall it's just a bit too timid and minor-key at the moment. Were the grapes picked a bit too soon? (JR)
