Dominated by fruit, this appealing wine reveals admirable concentration and depth. Its firm tannic backbone is present, but ripe. It should be consumed between 2005 and 2010. Bright ruby-red. Black raspberry and roasted herbs on the nose; a bit less vivacious than the Clos de Beze. Then sweetly oaky and rich, with lovely inner-mouth aromatics but not quite the class or detail of the Clos de Beze. A strong component of charred, chocolatey oak currently overshadows the wine's fruit. Finishes with sweet, suave tannins and excellent persistence.
