The 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru is completely different from the Clos-de-Bèze with darker fruit, pressed iris and crushed oyster shells. Touches of chalk emerge with aeration, quite mercurial in the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced, pixelated as you would expect for a wine literally constructed berry-by-berry, almost medicinal on the finish with aniseed on the aftertaste. About to place your order for a dozen jeroboams…there's just 85-liters this year.

Elegant and complete, the 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru offers up aromas of sweet berries, plums, orange rind, sweet spices and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a layered core, velvety tannins and an expansive finish, this is a strong performance for this tiny cuvée, derived from a parcel located just next to Dugat-Py's small plot in the heart of Le Chambertin.
